TW2K A Solo Campaign

The reason behind this blog is first and foremost to tell a story.

In the fall of 2023 I started a solo campaign set in the world of Twilight: 2000, using the core boxed set by Free League, available here. The boxed set had been sitting on my shelf for a while, until one day I decided to create a character using the life path system provided in the Player’s Manual, which allows you to trace the story of your character starting from him/her being 18 years old and ending when he/she is shipped to Europe to fight in the war.

It’s a very interesting system and I found myself not only rolling dice and picking careers and abilities out of the different tables, but inventing a real story as my character got older and moved through the various moments of his life. I eventually had a ready-to-play character and an interesting background story to go along with it. I think that’s when I discovered the storytelling potential of the game.

That alone was enough to inspire me to start a solo campaign and detailing it as it unfolded; using a combination of rules, random events and my own ideas to further up what at its base level is an rpg campaign, but for me is mostly an effective and interesting way to tell a story.

So, I created three more characters, each one with a unique story, and started a solo campaign recording the group’s progresses in narrative form. It only took a handful of sessions to get me hooked: there is a sea of possibilities, a rich setting to explore, interesting factions, dangers, moral choices and all the ingredients for an entertaining reading. Good stories are worth sharing, and – hopefully – that’s what you’ll find in my posts.

Also, I get to have some fun along the way.
